As a nation, we are more environmentally conscious than ever before. Considering the purchase of a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) or a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) could be a wise move. Not only will it help reduce your carbon footprint, it could save you money over the long term too.
Government funding is available through the Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland (SEAI) Electric Vehicle Purchase Scheme. Since 1st July 2021, grants of up to €5,000 are available for BEV’s and up to €2,500 for PHEV’s, purchased privately.
Grant amounts depend on the value of the approved vehicle as follows:

There is also a government funded support scheme to assist homeowners install an electric vehicle charge point on their property. The scheme provides a grant up to the value of €600 towards the purchase and installation of a home charger unit.
